The uber-cool Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids is coming to London. The show takes place on 9 April at The Jazz Café, and here’s what to expect from the Afro Futuristic group.

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids is known for its Afro meet jazz sound. Idris is the lead singer, and he was born in Chicago, United States. He was inspired by his travels across Africa including trips to Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Uganda.

He founded The Pyramids band in the early 1970s, although they would later split up and reform multiple times. The group would sell their first albums from the truck of their car, and the releases included King of Kings and Lalibela. The albums include Afro Futuristic Dream, An Angel Fell, Centurian, Portrait, and Shaman! The songs include Rhapsody in Berlin, Tinoge Ya Ta’a Ba, and Whispering Tenderness.
