Coyo Taco is heading to St James in London.

Tacos are not just for Tuesdays. Coyo Taco is making its way from Miami to London, and it will be located on Orchard Place, St James. Opening in the summer, the original has already cemented its status as a celebrity hotspot, and the new venue is aiming to do the same.

Last year, Coyo Taco announced that it was expanding into the United Kingdom. Now, it has confirmed its location — in the heart of central London, and in St James. It will count the likes of Jason Atherton’s Sael and the FACT Dining Awards London-nominated Fallow among its neighbours.

Kuvi Hospitality’s Chief Executive, Shereen Ritchie, explained: “Coyo Taco is more than a restaurant — it’s a cultural experience. The freshness of the food, the vibrancy of the speakeasy and the authenticity of its Mexican roots make it stand out from anything else in the UK market. It’s soulful, fun and full of energy. We believe Coyo Taco will strike a powerful chord with Londoners and has the potential to thrive nationwide.”

The Miami restaurant is popular with the likes of Diplo, David Beckham and Will Smith. It even received approval from President Barack Obama. In 2018, Obama visited while on a campaign rally and ordered a taco himself. If you want to follow in the President’s footsteps, he ordered a Camarón Taco, Cochinita Pibil Taco, Esquite (corn off the cob) and a Pollo al Carbón Taco.

Obama told the owners: “I’m so proud of you guys — this is what the United States is all about: hard-working immigrants and children of immigrants making their dreams come true.”

Coyo Taco’s new menu has not yet been unveiled. So far, we know that it will include Mexican-style tacos, burritos and quesadillas. The site will also include a speakeasy-style bar, called Bar Coyo, with drinks ranging from mezcal to margaritas.
