Ramadan Tent Project’s Open Iftar is back for 2026, taking over some of the UK’s most iconic venues with free community meals, conversation, and a shared sunset moment.
For many Londoners, Ramadan is marked by quiet rituals and busy evenings. For everyone else, it can pass by unnoticed. Open Iftar changes that. Returning for its 13th year, the Ramadan Tent Project initiative invites people of all faiths and none to gather at sunset, break the fast together, and experience the spirit of Ramadan through food, generosity and connection.
This year’s programme reads like a cultural map of the UK, with Open Iftar popping up across February and March and landing in landmark spaces that feel suitably grand for the occasion. The London run begins at Banqueting House on Friday 20 February, before moving through venues that include Soho Theatre in Walthamstow, Battersea Arts Centre and the National Gallery.
Open Iftar then builds towards a capital-city finale in Trafalgar Square on Monday 16 March 2026, delivering a rare moment of stillness in one of London’s busiest public spaces. Beyond the capital, the schedule stretches from Bradford Live and Silverstone Circuit to Blackburn, Brighton, Glasgow and Birmingham, underlining the project’s national reach.
Founded in 2013 by a group of students at SOAS University of London, Ramadan Tent Project has grown into an award-winning charity focused on fostering understanding and building bridges between communities. Along the way, it has connected and convened more than one million people through its Ramadan initiatives, including Open Iftar.

Tickets are released weekly and exclusively via the Ramadan Tent Project newsletter, so you’ll need to subscribe to secure a spot. Attendance is free, with the option to make a charitable donation.
