Inside Aardman explores the magic of Wallace and Gromit and more.
As Aardman marks its 50th anniversary, a new exhibition invites fans to step behind the scenes of the studio’s beloved stop-motion creations. Running from 12 February to 15 November 2026, visitors will be able to explore the magic at Inside Aardman: Wallace and Gromit and Friends.
Aardman was founded in 1972 in Bristol and is famous for its use of clay animation and stop-motion techniques. Established by Peter Lord and David Sproxton while they were still at school, the studio has since gained a global reputation. The studio is famous for its meticulous attention to detail and its charming, family-friendly productions.

Inside Aardman: Wallace and Gromit and Friends forms part of the 50th anniversary celebrations taking place throughout 2026. Guests can discover exactly how Aardman brings its characters to life.
Discover the worlds of Chicken Run and Shaun the Sheep to Morph and, of course, Wallace and Gromit. The exhibition showcases more than 150 objects from Aardman’s archives, including never-before-seen models, sets and storyboards. Highlights include both the interior and exterior of the submarine belonging to Wallace and Gromit’s arch-nemesis, Feathers McGraw.
This family-friendly exhibition offers a fascinating insight into the techniques, skills and handmade artistry behind Aardman’s most iconic creations. Fans will be able to get up close to the tools and materials used by animators. Plus, learn how the studio’s memorable moments were crafted frame by frame.
As part of the programme, an online talk titled Inside Aardman: Wallace and Gromit and Friends will take place on 10 February 2026. Led by curators Alex Newson and Tanaya Basu De Sarkar, the session will delve deeper into storytelling and animation.
