Hotel aficionados, we have some exciting news. The World’s 50 Best Hotels have been unveiled for the first time. Passalacqua in Moltrasio, Italy was named the number one hotel in the world. Rosewood Hong Kong was named number two, and Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River was named number three.
The World’s 50 Best Hotels held its inaugural ceremony at London’s Guildhall. The event brought together industry experts, hoteliers and journalists from across the world. The winners were compiled by a voting panel, which consisted of 580 anonymous experts.
The highest-ranking hotel in the Middle East was Atlantis, The Royal in Dubai at number 44. The highest-ranking hotels in London were Claridge’s at number 16, The Connaught at number 22, NoMad London at number 46, and The Savoy at number 47.
Here are how the rankings were split out across the world: 21 in Europe, 18 in Asia, 6 in North America, 3 in Africa, 1 in Oceania and 1 in South America.
Special awards were given out during the night. The Lost Explorer Best Beach Hotel Award was given to Soneva Fushi in the Maldives. The SevenRooms Icon Award was given to Sonu Shivdasani OBE, co-founder and CEO of Soneva, and founder and former CEO of Six Senses. Capella Bangkok was given the Nikka Best New Hotel Award. The Flor de Caña Eco Hotel Award was given to Singita Lodges.
