Located in the City of London, it is created by the team behind Dotori.
Get ready, London. Alan Tse, the mastermind behind the much-loved Korean-meets-Japanese hotspot Dotori in Finsbury Park, is about to bring his magic to the City of London. He will be opening a new restaurant, The Azuki Room. Scheduled to launch in September, here’s what we know.
Dotori started more than 13 years ago. The family-run restaurant prides itself on offering a blend of Korean and Japanese flavours, as well as barbecue, bibimbap, noodles, and sushi dishes. The vibe is chilled, with walk-in service and a cash-only policy.
Alan has been sharpening his skills at the prestigious Japan Culinary Institute in Tokyo and is now returning to London with this new concept. The Azuki Room will be located on Rolls Passage, just off Chancery Lane. The restaurant will occupy the former site of the Pineapple Club and will be transformed into an intimate Japanese dining room.
The Azuki Room draws inspiration from Tokyo’s backstreet izakaya experiences. The space aims to be soulful and lively, offering traditional Japanese cuisine. Spread across two floors, it will also feature a terrace.
The full menu for The Azuki Room has not yet been unveiled. So far, we know it will include a set lunch menu and a dinner tasting menu. At its core, it aims to offer a premium izakaya experience rooted in tradition and elevated by skilled craftsmanship.
If you’re looking for a late-night hangout, the venue also has a late licence, meaning it is open until 2am. That’s when the relaxed izakaya vibes come alive.
