The restaurant will be located on the site of Le Gavroche.
Gordon Ramsay has been causing a stir in London’s restaurant scene. After opening Lucky Cat at 22 Bishopsgate, the celebrity chef has announced that he will back Matt Abé, as he creates his first solo venture in the former Le Gavroche site in Mayfair.
Matt Abé hails from Australia, and has been working on London’s fine dining scene. He is the Chef Patron at the three MICHELIN Starred, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. He will now be leaving the restaurant, and create his own venture. While the opening date has not yet been confirmed, it will be located at 43 Upper Brook Street and is under a 15-year lease.
Gordon hails from Scotland, United Kingdom. He has restaurants across the world including Dubai, Hong Kong and Las Vegas. He is famous for his cocky and controversial personality in TV shows ranging from Hell’s Kitchen to The F Word. Profanity aside, he is an award-winning chef and his restaurants currently hold seven MICHELIN Stars.
In 2024, Le Gavroche closed after being open for more than 15 years. Gordon explained: “Le Gavroche holds some incredible memories from my early career. When I heard the property was going to be available, it felt like the right moment to support Matt and come full circle with a restaurant that I loved so much. It has been incredible watching Matt grow throughout the 18 years that we have worked together; he is such a talent and now is absolutely the right time for him to take this next step in his career.”
