The restaurant is backed by the team behind Dorian.
The group behind one of the most in-demand restaurants in West London, Dorian and other esteemed establishments, such as Urchin and Tuna Fight Club, is launching a sushi bar, called the Eel Sushi Bar, in Notting Hill this May.
Eel Sushi Bar is taking over a quaint, old antiques shop on Talbot Road. It will be a walk-in-only restaurant with a ten-seat capacity. It promises to serve great quality, low-priced sushi that is made to order. Head Chef Nicky, formerly of the sushi restaurant Dinings, will be running Eel Sushi Bar, bringing his world-class expertise with him.
Information on the restaurant is limited so far, but we know it will be an à la carte, casual, walk-in, traditional sushi bar, open seven days a week from 12pm to 10pm.
The wine list is said to share that of Dorian’s, which as quoted on their Instagram, "instantly makes it the best wine list of any sushi bar in the world." Their fish will be provided by local fishmonger Notting Hill Fish Shop, otherwise known as Notting Hill Fish+Meat.
The new sushi bar will be nestled just opposite Dorian, a well-known and loved ‘rowdy local bistro’, as they describe themselves. Now Michelin-starred, Dorian has quite the reputation as a go-to spot in Notting Hill, run by head chef Max Coen. Although the menu is seasonal, they’re especially known for their steak and fish dishes, not to mention their glorious wine list curated by their head sommelier Jeri Kimber-Ndiaye.
Although it’s all rather ambiguous so far, considering their previous successes, Eel Sushi Bar will most likely be another in-demand spot for West London locals and Londoners alike. Stay tuned for all the insights.
