Chef Michael Caines

Michael has made his mark around the world. Born in Exeter, United Kingdom, he studied catering at Exeter College. He explains: “I grew up in a large family, and my love of food and cooking came from the big family meals we always shared together, prepared by my mother, who was a wonderful cook. My father loved to grow vegetables and fruit in our garden, and so I grew up appreciating the flavours of the freshest foods, picked that day and simply prepared.”

He worked at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane in London, and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxford. In 1994, he lost his arm in a car accident; he learnt to use his left hand and still went on to excel in the restaurant industry. He went on to become the head chef at Gidleigh Park, which won two MICHELIN Stars and has been a firm fixture on the television series Great British Menu.

Michael opened the boutique hotel and restaurant, Lympstone Manor, in Exmouth. Pearls by Michael Caines, which is located in Jumeirah Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi. Plus, he worked with the Williams F1 team and served the food at the motorhome during race weekends.
