The Egyptian icon brings his shaabi sound to the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
Egyptian singing sensation Hakim will return to London for a one-off show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Thursday, 26 March 2026. Widely known as “The Lion of Egypt”, the pioneering Egyptian artist helped take shaabi, the country’s street-rooted sound, to international audiences by blending traditional rhythms with modern production.
Born in Maghagha, a small town in Egypt’s El Minya Governorate, Hakim grew up around the sounds of shaabi music. He had long admired the great Egyptian shaabi singer Ahmed Adaweyah, and practised mawawīl, the vocal improvisations which often open an Egyptian shaabi song.
To this day, Hakim remains a powerful symbol of cultural dialogue and an artist who has shown that music born from unknown streets can one day resonate with the rest of the world.
Over the years, he has collaborated with a range of global artists, including Narada Michael Walden and Olga Tañon in 2002, James Brown in 2004, and Don Omar in 2007. Expect crowd favourites including “Ah Ya Alby,” “Wala Wahed”, and “Halawet Rooh” when he takes to the stage in London.
Live Nation presale tickets will be available on Thursday, 22 January at 10am, while general sale opens on Friday, 23 January at 10am.
Hakim live in London will be a night to remember, for both long-term and new fans, for Egyptians and beyond.
