Over a decade ago, The Hunger Games blasted onto the big screens, wowing audiences all around the world. Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen became a symbol of resistance, owing to her incredible performance. But let’s not forget that the movies were based on the internationally acclaimed book series of the same name by Suzanne Collins. And now, for the first time, a live stage adaptation of The Hunger Games, is in the works.
Making its debut in London next year, The Hunger Games stage show will be wowing crowds. Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson is the man behind this adaptation along with Matthew Dunster, who will be helming this project.
While the cast and the venue for this much-awaited production haven’t been announced yet. Even a confirmed running date for the show hasn’t been disclosed but rest assured, it’ll happen sometime in autumn next year.
Set in a dystopian world, The Hunger Games follows 24 tributes selected from their districts as they battle each other in a deadly arena — only for one victor to emerge victorious and help their district flourish. But Katniss rebels against the Capitol to stand for her life and those of her peers, and fight for everyone oppressed. The film was loved by the masses across the globe, helping the franchise earn over $3 billion in box office sales worldwide.
