Summer by the River brings free open-air cinema, live entertainment, and pop-up bars.

As temperatures rise and the city begins to bask in the long-awaited glow of summer, one of London's most beloved outdoor experiences makes its triumphant return. Summer by the River is back, bringing months of free entertainment to the banks of the Thames, with The Scoop amphitheatre at the heart of it all.

Running from June to August, the open-air event series transforms London Bridge City into a cultural hub. From film screenings to live music, theatre, dance, and interactive family fun, there's something for everyone, and entry is completely free.

Cinema lovers are in for a treat, with Tuesday night film screenings starting at 7 pm. Highlights this season include Despicable Me (15 July), Moana 2 and a Wicked singalong (both 22 July), Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (29 July), followed by Twisters (12 August), If (19 August) and Inside Out 2 (26 August). Whether you're into animations, musicals or blockbusters, the lineup promises serious crowd-pleasers.

But it's not all about the silver screen. The Scoop will also host a variety of vibrant performances, including Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth (30 July), BBC Introducing In London (19 June), and 80s-inspired dance parties like The 80s Mixtape (16 July). There's even the hilariously competitive Karaoke Rumble Duet Battles (20 August) for those feeling bold.

For refreshments, two pop-up bars will keep the summer spirit flowing, but the real scene-stealer is the brand-new two-storey glasshouse complete with an outdoor terrace. Offering panoramic views and premium drinks, it's the perfect spot to unwind pre- or post-show.

Enjoy the best of summer in the city until 31 August.
