Lights, camera, Wes Anderson. The Design Museum has announced an exciting exhibition celebrating the American filmmaker. Running from 21 November 2025 to 26 July 2026, Wes Anderson: The Archives has been created in collaboration with La Cinémathèque Française.
Wes has given The Design Museum unprecedented access to his personal archive, which means that you can feel like you’re starring in your very own Wes Anderson movie. This marks the first time that many of these objects have been on display in the United Kingdom. More than 600 objects were brought together, including costumes, handwritten notebooks, miniature models, paintings, Polaroids, puppets, sketches, storyboards, and more.

The highlights include a candy-pink model of the Grand Budapest Hotel, the vending machines from Asteroid City, and the FENDI fur coat worn by Gwyneth Paltrow as Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums. Plus, you can see the sea creatures from The Life Aquatic, and Fantastic Mr Fox’s corduroy suit.
Wes was born in Texas, United States. He has carefully crafted his own aesthetic and has become famous for his eccentric style of filmmaking. In 1996, he created his first film Bottle Rocket. In 1998, he created his next film, Rushmore, which became a cult classic. His films also include Fantastic Mr Fox, Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited and The Royal Tenenbaums.

During his career, Wes has won five Academy Awards, five BAFTAS and two Golden Globes. Grand Budapest Hotel was nominated for Best Director and Best Picture.
