This is going to be totally fetch.

London is about to get a whole lot meaner. That’s right, a Mean Girls musical is hitting the West End, and it's going to be so fetch, you won't even believe it.

Based on the iconic 2004 film, this musical is making its way to London’s Savoy Theatre to celebrate the movie's 20th anniversary. Written by Tina Fey, who also penned the original screenplay, the Mean Girls musical is an experience you won't want to miss. For those of you who haven't been keeping up with the Mean Girls musical journey, it started in Washington DC in 2017 and then hit Broadway with all the force, earning 12 Tony Award nominations.

The announcement of this London production came on 3 October, which any true Mean Girls fan knows is the unofficial — or official — Mean Girls day. In the film, it's the day Cady Heron told Aaron Samuels the date.

Now, we know what you're thinking. Who's going to play the iconic roles of Cady, Regina, Gretchen and Karen? Well, the Burn Book may not have all the details just yet, but casting for the London production is still under wraps. So, get your pink outfits ready because we'll soon find out who's going to make the plastics proud.

London is already home to some other fabulous musicals based on films like Back to the Future, Frozen, Moulin Rouge, Mrs. Doubtfire and The Lion King. And with Mean Girls in the mix, this lineup is about to get a whole lot interesting.

With previews starting in June 2024, you better start practising your Mean Girls quotes. Tickets go live on 1 November.
