Based on the hit film, it will include songs from the soundtrack.

Roll up, roll up. A new circus show is coming to the capital. Come Alive! The Greatest Showman will open in the autumn. Inspired by the hit film The Greatest Showman, it will feature songs from the soundtrack.

Come Alive! The Greatest Showman looks set to be a showstopper. Simon Hammerstein, who is the grandson of lyricist Oscar Hammerstein, is the Creative Director. Oscar was behind the lyrics for some of the world’s greatest musicals, from The Sound of Music to The King And I. Plus, the story will be created by Jenny Bicks, and songs come from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The Greatest Showman was released in 2017. Directed by Michael Gracey, it offered a fictionalised version of the entertainer, PT Barnum’s life and his creation of the Barbum & Bailey Circus. Hugh Jackman led an ensemble cast, which included Keala Settle, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Zendaya.

Set in the 1800s, the story follows a young PT Barnum. After trying his hand at a range of roles, he decides to go into show business. He turns his hands to the circus, and creates a circus show with a difference. The show follows his rise in success, and his troupe of performers.

The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack included A Million Dreams, Rewrite the Stars, The Greatest Show and This Is Me. This Is Me was performed by Keala Settle, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
