The Doctor Who star will play Christopher Marlowe.
British actor Ncuti Gatwa has made his mark onscreen and onstage. Now, he will be starring in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Born With Teeth. Running from 14 August to 1 November, it will be playing at the Wyndham Theatre.
Born With Teeth has been directed by Daniel Evans. It stars Ncuti as Christopher Marlowe and Edward Bluemel as William Shakespeare. The play reimagines the relationship between the two literary icons.
Set in 1591, London has become a dangerous place for artists. There is paranoia in the air, and Christopher and William have met in the backroom of a pub. Across three secret meetings, the rivals duel and flirt like their lives depend on it – but there are spies everywhere.
Ncuti was born in Kigali, Rwanda. He escaped the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, and moved to Oxgangs, Edinburgh. He studied acting at Dundee Repertory Theatre, and started performing productions. His breakthrough role came in 2018, when he appeared as Eric Effiong in the Netflix series, Sex Education.

Ncuti has also taken on the prestigious role of Doctor Who. He starred in the BBC series, and was the first black actor to take on the lead role. Over his career, he has also starred in the blockbuster film, Barbie, and as Mercutio in the stage show, Romeo and Juliet.
Wyndham Theatre recently announced that it will also be welcoming a star-studded cast for the play, My Master Builder. The show stars Ewan McGregor, Elizabeth Debicki and Kate Fleetwood, and runs from 17 April to 12 July.
