The Tate Britain Garden will bring culture and community together.

London is blooming. The Tate Britain Garden has been announced, and it will celebrate art, flowers and festivities. This marks the Tate’s debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which runs from 19 to 23 May 2026.

The Tate Britain Garden will offer a vision of how art, nature and community can come together. Designed by nine-time RHS Chelsea gold medallist Tom Stuart-Smith, the garden will showcase the role of museums as public spaces where relaxation and contemplation sit alongside creativity and learning.

At the heart of the garden will be Dame Barbara Hepworth’s Bicentric Form, which marks the first time a work from the national collection has been displayed in a Chelsea Flower Show garden. The garden will also draw inspiration from Tate’s art collection. The garden provides a glimpse of the forthcoming Clore Garden, also designed by Stuart-Smith. And, the garden will later be moved to Tate Britain and form part of a wider regeneration project.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is one of the world’s most prestigious horticultural events, and takes place each year in May. The show brings together innovative garden designs, floral displays, exclusive shopping experiences, and high-profile guests. Every year, members of the British Royal Family attend to show their support. On the opening day, King Charles III and Queen Camilla are expected to mark the event’s opening. Over the years, it has welcomed celebrities from actress Joanna Lumley to footballer Michael Owen.
