Olympia will also be home to a speakeasy, events space and Pillar Hall.
London certainly loves a revamp. It’s been a long time in the making, but the much-anticipated refurbishment of Olympia is almost complete. The Pillar Hall is the first space to open, and it’s looking rather grand.
Created by Des Gunewardena and the D3 Collective, The Pillar Hall will be home to a range of concepts. Des has previously worked his magic with 14 Hills, Coq d'Argent, and German Gymnasium. The new space will be home to Pepperbird, a speakeasy-style bar, and Upstairs at Pillar Hall, an events space that can accommodate up to 500 guests.
At the heart of The Pillar Hall is Idalia. The restaurant will seat up to a whopping 300 guests. The all-day dining room features a garden-inspired design, drawing on the charm of a classic country house.

At the helm of the kitchen is Executive Chef Samantha Williams, who previously worked with Angela Hartnett. She has created a menu showcasing modern British cuisine. Expect dishes including Herdwick lamb cutlet with courgette flower, sheep’s curd, and romesco, and Wood-Roasted Turbot with shichimi togarashi butter.
Executive Pastry Chef Lorena Tommasi, who has previously worked on Jeremy King’s team, will be leading on desserts. Dishes include the Vivienne Heel, a chocolate stiletto that is sure to make its way on Instagram accounts.
Upon completion, Olympia will be home to more than 30 restaurants and bars. Plus, it will contain two hotels. Throughout its history, the venue has been famous for hosting events, and this will continue as it enters a new lease of life. The building will be home to three spaces, which are filled with light, character and state-of-the-art features.
