The Notting Hill venue will be home to a restaurant and hotel.

Few restaurants have queues around the block in London. Dishoom reached a legendary status among locals and is loved for its Indian food. Now, the team behind the concept opened Permit Room on Portobello Road, Notting Hill – and it's not just a restaurant, but also a hotel called Permit Room Lodgings.

Permit Room Lodgings will open in June and be home to a boutique hotel. Dishoom founders Shamil Thakrar and Kavi Thakrar discussed the details with Bloomberg. Kavi explained: "We don't want it to be so expensive that people can't afford it".

On the top floor of the building, there will be a two-bedroom apartment that is available to rent. The prices have not yet been confirmed. It's likely to offer a two-night minimum stay and a one-week maximum stay. Guests will also be able to have food from the restaurant delivered to their room and have priority bookings in the main dining room.

Permit Room can already be found in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford. The restaurant draws inspiration from the permit rooms in Mumbai, India. The name harks back to the days of India's Independence and refers to speakeasy-like spots where alcohol was permitted to be served.

Breakfast at Permit Room is also very popular – and will be a draw for hotel guests. Dishes include Akuri Pau with eggs and green chillies, Egg Naan Roll with saffron orange, and Chicken Keema Pau with chicken and eggs. Plus, The Full Permit is equivalent to a full English breakfast and comes with spicy eggs.
