Chef Dom Taylor's concept will showcase Caribbean cuisine.
Chef Dom Taylor has made a name for himself on the food scene. After winning the reality TV series Five Star Chef, the prize was the opportunity to open a restaurant. The Good Front Room opened in the Palm Court at The Langham in London, and is now heading to Dalston.
The Good Front Room at The Langham was a pop-up but has now returned. Its new home is in Dalston, near Dalston Junction station, and it is taking over the former Mildred's site. Having already hosted a series of supper clubs there, Chef Dom has now announced the restaurant’s permanent location.

The Good Front Room will celebrate modern Caribbean cooking. Starters include the Coco Stack Slider and Irish ‘Proper’ Chips with maple, lime and chilli-glazed plantain. Mains feature Short Rib Brown Stew and a Whole Jerk Chicken for two. Desserts include Sweet Potato Sticky Toffee Pudding.
The drinks list includes a signature rum punch made with Kraken Dark Rum, Wray and Nephew, ginger, pimento, pineapple, lime and cherry syrup. Plus, classic Caribbean beers, including Red Stripe and Dragon Stout.
The restaurant draws inspiration from Chef Dom’s childhood and cultural background. He said: “The Good Front Room is inspired by my great-aunt Myrtle and the sacred front rooms found in so many Caribbean homes – spaces kept for special guests and layered with pride and memory. As a grandchild of the Windrush generation, I feel a responsibility to carry the torch and keep our stories, recipes and traditions alive.”
