The former chef at Koyn and Nobu is behind the concept.
London is filled with world-class Japanese restaurants. Now, it has welcomed Wild Izakaya on Old Jewry Street in the City of London. The concept has been created by former Koyn and Nobu chef Satoru Hashimoto, and here’s what to expect.
Wild Izakaya has been created by the team behind Beast, Goodman, and Pinna. It has taken over a space in the City of London, next to its sibling restaurant, Goodman, on the site formerly occupied by Browns.
Wild Izakaya aims to bring the taste of Japan to London, with Chef Satoru at the helm of the kitchen. He has spent more than a decade working in the kitchens of some of London’s most renowned restaurants and is now focusing on this exciting new venture.

Wild Izakaya features a minimalist design with long communal tables, muted tones, and dark wood. The interiors are punctuated by neon lights, which add a touch of colour. Plus, an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work.
The menu is a celebration of Japanese classics. Expect sushi, nigiri, sashimi, maki and temaki. Plus, robata skewers and deep-fried dishes, including Agedashi Tofu and Rock Shrimp Tempura.
Lookout for the separate bar area offering cocktails, sake, and wine. Drinks include a Plum Manhattan, Shiso Collins, and Wasabi Margarita, while the house martini is made with Belvedere Vodka, Ichiko Shochu, and Kenbishi Sake. The sake list features rare bottles, ranging from a 20-Year Daruma Masamune to a 2022 Romanée-Conti Montrachet Grand Cru.
