Savour, share and sample Spanish dishes at The Keeper's House.
The Royal Academy is a firm favourite among the FACT team. Home to exciting exhibitions, there are now even more reasons to visit. Acclaimed chef José Pizarro will be opening a new restaurant. The Keeper’s House by José Pizarro is located within the gallery in Piccadilly, London.
Scheduled to open in November, the new restaurant will showcase José’s Spanish style. The menu will include sharing plates and his signature dishes. The food will also be available in some of the other rooms in the gallery. For now, the dining room will only be open to the gallery’s friends, members, and patrons of the Royal Academy and their guests.
The Royal Academy is currently undergoing an expansion project, the RA Collection Gallery Project. As a result, José Pizarro’s original restaurant in the gallery has had to close. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2027.
José hails from Talaván, a small village in Spain. He was born into a family of farmers and grew up producing vegetables, meats and dairy products. Despite training to be a dentist, food was in his blood, so he swapped the scaler for a spatula.
José is described as the Godfather of Spanish cooking in the United Kingdom. He has restaurants across Europe, and this is his first to open in the Middle East. In London, his venues include José Tapas Bar Bermondsey Street, Pizarro Restaurant Bermondsey Street, and José Pizarro Broadgate Circle. Brits may also recognise his face from TV programmes including Saturday Kitchen and Sunday Brunch.
José by Pizarro also opened a restaurant at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It was recently awarded 'Favourite European Restaurant' at the FACT Dining Awards Abu Dhabi 2025.
