After 50 years, Sale e Pepe is finally expanding its reign with another branch.

Sale e Pepe, one of London’s most enduring Italian addresses, is setting sail for a new chapter. The Thesleff Group, the team behind the original Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge, will unveil a seafood-led sister, Sale e Pepe Mare, at The Langham, just off Regent Street. The opening is slated for the end of November and marks the first new restaurant for the brand since 1974.

Drawing inspiration from Italian coastal dining, Sale e Pepe Mare will take over the former Mimosa space and bring a Mediterranean sensibility to an all-day setting. Expect a menu anchored in seafood and time-honoured techniques, balancing signature favourites with fresh ideas. Hero plates include Linguine All’Aragosta with lobster, Datterino tomatoes and basil, Branzino al Sale presented as a whole salt-baked sea bass, and Linguine Vongole e Bottarga with clams.

New creations sharpen the seafood focus, from Toro Grasso, a fatty bluefin tuna on baked brioche with confit tomato and garlic, to Gambero Rosso, a Mazzara del Vallo red prawn battuta with pink peppercorn and lemon verbena. There is also Spigola Crudo with trout roe, espelette pepper and yuzu soy, Tagliarini Grancho with Dorset crab, Calabrian anchovies, parsley and olive oil, plus an impressive shellfish tower for tables that like to share.

A central seafood display will showcase the daily catch, while whole turbot and clams will be cooked to order. Beyond the ocean, prime cuts of steak will feature for those seeking surf and turf. The experience continues tableside with an iconic dessert trolley starring the restaurant’s signature tiramisu, and a dedicated Champagne and Negroni trolley to elevate aperitivi and digestivi.

The Mimosa dining room will be transformed into Sale e Pepe Mare

Set across 5,000 square feet, the restaurant will seat 130 in the main dining room, with a private dining room for up to 22 guests. Design highlights include a walk-in wine room with display cabinetry and a striking 16-foot bar.

Markus Thesleff, CEO and founder of Thesleff Group, said: “Sale e Pepe has always been more than a restaurant, it’s part of London’s cultural fabric. I grew up visiting with my parents, so it holds a special place in my heart. With Sale e Pepe Mare, we’re honouring that legacy while reimagining it for today, capturing the spirit of la dolce vita in a setting that’s effortlessly elegant and luxurious.”
