The restaurant gives the pub experience a plush upgrade.

Alfie’s is a celebration of Britishness. The carefully curated menu, dining room and name showcase the best of Britain. The name refers to the Poet Laureate, Alfred Tennyson, and echoes Michael Caine’s role in the film Alfie. Located on the first floor of The Alfred Tennyson Pub, it offers a fine dining restaurant experience filled with charm and character(s).

Alfie’s opened in spring 2025, and FACT were one of the first media outlets to visit. Located within walking distance of Harrods and Knightsbridge station, it offers an alternative option from some of the area’s shinier spots. Sitting in an old Georgian townhouse, it gives humble pub grub an upgrade, and is the perfect blend of refined and relaxed.

Alfie’s

When we entered Alfie’s, we received a warm welcome, and it felt like we had walked into our friend’s living room – albeit a more stylish one. British brands span the antiques, high-quality fabrics and floral wallpapers. The dining room is filled with sink-into-seats, dark wooden walls and a view that overlooks the beautiful streets of Belgravia.

Alfie’s was founded by Sam and Georgie Pearman, and Chef Director, Ben Tish. Sam and Georgie explained: “We are over the moon to introduce everyone to Alfie’s – an elevated dining experience with a focus on quality and seasonality. The dining room will be a calm sanctuary from the hustle and bustle downstairs, and the perfect setting to share that with our guests, whether it’s for a celebration or an everyday escape”.

Alfie’s

Alfie’s is open for lunch and dinner, offering a menu with British and French influences. On our weekday visit, the venue was quieter, with only a handful of guests. The menu features oysters, raw starters, salads, mains, grills, sides, and desserts. Our waiter, who previously worked at River Café, was passionate about the produce, and explained where everything from the butter to booze had been sourced.

The Seasonal Oysters were jumbo and juicy, and came with pickled cucumber and green apple or shallot mignonette. The New Season Asparagus Salad came with a twist on textures, as the creamy burrata was punctuated by the peas.

The main courses range from 45-day aged Sirloin to Roast Scottish Cod. The Creedy Carvar Chicken came with a crispy texture, and soaked up the morels and sherry sauce. The Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder was fantastically flaky, falling off at the touch of a fork, and served on a bed of broad beans with olives. The portions were generous, and the flavours were fresh.

The dessert menu draws inspiration from old-school classics. Take your pick from a Baked Alaska, Pump Street Chocolate and Olive Oil Mousse, and Pistachio Souffle. The Gooseberry, Toffee Apple and Custard Trifle felt like an upgrade on school dinners, and came with a light cream and infusion of alcohol.

The drinks menu spans cocktails, wine and spirits. If you order one cocktail, make it Alfie’s Freezer Martini. It is served in a cold glass, and the spirit is -14 degrees Celsius. We were pleased to see a thoughtful list of zero, low, and mid-alcohol options, from hops to mocktails.

Alfie’s: a love letter to Britain, served one plate (and pint) at a time.
