ONSU draws inspiration from his Asian heritage.
If you have a sweet tooth, we have some tasty news. Chef Michael Kwan is opening ONSU in Soho. The celebrated chef has worked at some of the world’s most renowned establishments and is now launching his own concept. Scheduled to open on 15 January, here is what you need to know.
Chef Michael was born in Hong Kong and worked in the United Kingdom. His accolades include being crowned UK Sugar Champion in 2019, European Cup Champion in 2022, and Pastry Chef of the Year in 2024. He also served as UK Pastry Team President and led the team in preparations for the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2025.
Over the course of his career, Chef Michael has worked at restaurants including Hakkasan, Ladurée and The Fat Duck. Most recently, he served as Executive Pastry Chef at The Dorchester.
At ONSU, Kwan will draw inspiration from his Asian heritage. The offering will include a range of breads and patisserie. From 15 to 17 January, ONSU will offer an opening tray priced at £4.90, which includes a selection of bread, a pastry and a coffee.
Sweet offerings include an oolong and milk chocolate tart, a Paris-Brest with popcorn and miso caramel, and a Salted Egg Yolk Mille-Feuille. Savoury options include Black Truffle Toast, Seaweed Croissants and a Wagyu Beef Curry Bun. Drinks will range from minus 86°C Coffee to an Ube Latte served in a frozen glass.
