The concept has been created by Chef Andy Cook.
Grab the chopsticks. The Japanese restaurant MOI will be opening soon in Soho. Scheduled to launch in the summer, it sees the former Gordon Ramsay chef, Andy Cook, at the helm of the kitchen.
MOI will be located on busy and buzzing Wardour Street. The restaurant, group, Mad Restaurants, is behind the concept. The group’s venues include Japanese restaurants, and this marks its latest opening.
Andy hails from Birmingham, United Kingdom. In 2000, he joined Gordon Ramsay’s three-MICHELIN-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London. He has worked on the launch of Gordon Ramsay at The Conrad Tokyo and at Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood.
The full menu for MOI has not yet been unveiled. So far, we know that it will specialise in Japanese-inspired dishes and use British ingredients. The menu will span sushi to grilled dishes. Dishes include Grilled Turbot fillet with yuzu kosho butter, and Orkney Scallops with juniper kombu. Sushi and sashimi dishes include an onigiri selection.
MOI has released a range of images, which show a minimalist and muted design. The venue will include raw concrete and reclaimed wood. The space boasts a statement staircase.
On the ground floor of the new restaurant, there will be two open kitchens, which let you watch the chefs at work. On the lower ground, there will be a different vibe, thanks to the listening bar, omakase bar and sushi kitchen. The bar draws inspiration from similar spaces in Shinjuku and Tokyo.
