Maza will draw its inspiration from 1980s Athenian tavernas.
London loves Greek restaurants, and husband-and-wife duo Christina Mouratoglou and Adrien Carré have been leading the charge with their creative, crowd-pleasing concepts. The pair are already behind much-loved spots Mazi and Suzi Tros, and are now preparing to open an exciting new restaurant. Maza will celebrate Greek cuisine and will be located in Bruton Place, London. If you'd like to put the new restaurant on your radar, here's what you need to know.
Drawing inspiration from 1980s Athenian tavernas, Maza has been designed by David Archer, who is also behind Chiltern Firehouse and The Peninsula. Set across 90 covers, the restaurant will revolve around an open-fire kitchen with counter seating. Upstairs, a vinyl listening bar will spin Greek records from the 1970s and 1980s, setting the tone for a lively, nostalgic atmosphere.

The menu will focus on generous portions and sharing plates, with dishes including handmade pasta with sea urchin, chicken jus and truffle; honey-roasted tomatoes with goat’s cheese and thyme oil; lamb shoulder from the spit; and grilled beef livers wrapped in lamb offal. Gyros will be carved and served tableside, allowing guests to build their own wraps.
Seafood lovers can look forward to fish of the day, as well as grilled lobster served with rice soaked in rich lobster head bisque. Desserts are just as playful, ranging from a pistachio baklava ice-cream sandwich to caramelised burnt milk cream.
Maza will boast one of the largest Greek wine lists in London, featuring more than 150 wines, alongside cocktails infused with Greek ingredients. Drinks will include a traditional tsipouro ritual – a shot served with mezze at the start of the meal – plus coffees, aperitifs and digestifs to round things off.
