Maki Nori has been created by the same team behind Maki & Ramen.

London, it’s time to (hand) roll with it. Maki Nori is launching on Moor Street in Soho. Opening in April, it will be located upstairs at Maki & Ramen. If you’re a fan of Japanese food, hold on to your chopsticks.

Maki & Ramen recently opened in the space formerly occupied by La Bodega Negra. As the name suggests, the restaurant specialises in maki and ramen, with the team priding themselves on fresh, vibrant flavours.

Now, the team are expanding with Maki Nori. The Japanese hand roll bar will accommodate up to 60 diners, including 20 seats at the counter. If you’re in a rush, perhaps on your lunch break or heading to a West End show, you’ll be pleased to hear it promises a 15-second roll. The chefs aim to prepare each dish with precision and care, blending tradition with innovation.

Maki Nori’s menu spans a range of dishes, from fresh and hot plates to nigiri and dessert. The hand rolls include A5 Wagyu, Eel, Pumpkin with yuzu syrup, and Snow Crab. Hot plates feature Dynamite Prawns, Pumpkin Tempura, and Prawn Tempura. Premium nigiri options include Uni Gunkan, Oscietra Caviar Gunkan, and Scallop. For dessert, there’s currently one offering: a Hokkaido Tart.

The menu showcases high-quality ingredients, with scallops and sea urchin flown in from Japan, bluefin tuna sourced from Spain, and salmon from Scotland. There will also be dry-aged fish and herbs prepared on site.
