The original venue features in the film franchise.
Bridget Jones remains one of London’s most beloved characters – no matter what her diary might suggest. Fans of the film may recognise Khao Bird, the Thai restaurant that made waves not just for its cuisine, but also for its landmark location. Situated above The Globe Tavern in London Bridge, it occupies the building used as Bridget’s flat in the Bridget Jones film franchise. Now, it’s moving to Soho.
Khao Bird first began life as a pop-up in Brighton before taking up residency above The Globe Tavern. In October, it will be heading to a new home in Soho, in the former site of an adult cinema. Restaurateurs Mike Palmer and Head Chef Luke Larsson are the minds behind the concept, with a menu inspired by their travels across Thailand and a focus on hyper-local, regional cuisine.

At its new Soho location, Khao Bird will spotlight live-fire cooking and Thai-style barbecues. Expect open kitchens so that you can watch the chefs at work. The menu will include Khao Soi with beef brisket, Minced Prawn Curry with mustard greens, Prawn Khanom Jeen made with fermented rice noodles, and Shan BBQ meatballs. There’s even their own take on Beef Larb with Campari.
The restaurant spans two floors, seating up to 48 downstairs and 30 upstairs. In the basement, diners will find a hidden bar serving off-menu bites. The décor will feature a blue and steel colour palette, a nod to Chiang Mai’s traffic signage, along with Thai arts and crafts throughout.
