Ravinder Bhogal and Nadeem Lalani Nanjuwany are bringing a casual concept to The Brunswick Centre.
The Brunswick Centre is about to offer a new reason to visit, and it comes with a serious pedigree. Ravinder Bhogal and Nadeem Lalani Nanjuwany, the duo behind Marylebone favourite Jikoni, are set to open Karam’s in Bloomsbury, a South Asian vegetarian restaurant landing in spring 2026.
Taking over the former MEATliquor space, Karam’s in Bloomsbury is positioned as the more relaxed sibling to Jikoni. Where Jikoni is known for its joyful, border-hopping approach to immigrant food cultures, this new venture turns the spotlight inward, anchoring itself in the founders’ own South Asian heritage and the comfort of vegetarian cooking. Expect an informal, communal feel with an all-day rhythm, designed for dropping in as much as settling in.
The name is personal, too. Karam’s is named after Bhogal’s grandfather, Sardar Karam Singh Bhogal, reflecting a spirit of generosity rooted in the idea that feeding people is a form of care and service. That ethos carries through in the concept’s inspiration: the langar halls of Gurdwaras, where meals are shared side by side.
On the menu, look out for craft breads, vegetable-forward dishes shaped by heritage grains and organic, farm-sourced ingredients, plus a selection of tempting thalis.
Ravinder Bhogal said: “When we think of our grandparents’ and great-grandparents’ homelands, we immediately think of the exuberant food and the women who cooked it. Our families’ journeys from Punjab, Gujarat, and Kutch took them across continents, but the women maintained those connections by keeping food traditions alive. When they pass away, it’s like whole libraries of knowledge going up in flames, an inheritance lost except for fragments imprinted on the tongue. Karam’s is our way of honouring that wisdom.”
And Karam’s in Bloomsbury is not their only big move. Bhogal and Lalani Nanjuwany are also behind the forthcoming food and drink offering at V&A East Museum in Stratford, due to open in spring 2026.
