Opening in May, the restaurant is accepting reservations.
The National Gallery is home to world-class art, and now it will be welcoming a world-class restaurant. Giorgio and Plaxy Locatelli have collaborated with Searcys to announce the launch of their new restaurant, Locatelli. Opening on 10 May, it will be located in the Sainsbury Wing of the gallery.
Locatelli will showcase the beauty of Italian cuisine. Giorgio will be joined in the kitchen by the Executive Chef, Imma Savinelli. The pair previously worked together in the restaurant Locanda Locatelli. Imma hails from the south of Italy, and honed her cooking skills in her childhood kitchen and a culinary academy in Italy. The menu reflects the restaurant’s artistic setting, and pays homage to Italian produce and cooking.

Locatelli will be home to an 80-seat restaurant and a 30-seat bar. On the ground floor, there will be Bar Giorgio. The espresso bar is great if you need a pick-up with proper Italian coffee, and it will also offer a sweet and savoury maritozzi menu.
Locatelli’s menu spans antipasti, primi, secondi and dessert. Primi dishes include Braised veal ravioli with parsley gremolata, and Pappardelle with broad beans, pecorino and rucola. The secondi dishes include Roast Chicken Alla Cacciatora and Polenta, and Roast Ribeye Steak with Aubergine. Desserts are Italian-inspired, featuring a Custard and Fresh Fruit Tart, a Lemon and Mascarpone Cake, and Tiramisu. Plus, the drinks list will include Italian wine, and winemakers Broglia, Ca’ del Bosco and Umani Ronchi.
Reservations are open now for Locatelli.
