The Original Sacher-Torte arrives at The Lanesborough.

Some desserts are queue-worthy good – and the Original Sacher-Torte, which can be found in Vienna, Austria, is most certainly one of them. The Original Sacher-Torte cake is available at Hotel Sacher Wien and has now opened a pop-up at The Lanesborough in London. Running until the end of May, guests will be able to delight in a special slice of Viennese heritage.

The Original Sacher-Torte dessert pop-up will be held in the Withdrawing Room at The Lanesborough in London. Visitors have the chance to savour two of Austria’s most iconic sweet creations: the Original Sacher-Torte and a traditional Apple Strudel. The aim is to bring Vienna’s grand café culture to the heart of London.

First created in 1832 by Franz Sacher, the Original Sacher-Torte is one of the world’s most celebrated cakes, and its closely guarded recipe is a treasured piece of Austrian history. Each cake is still lovingly handmade in 34 meticulous steps, layered with apricot jam and finished with its signature glossy chocolate glaze, and served with unsweetened whipped cream. The traditional Apple Strudel offers its own charm, as it comes with spiced apples wrapped in paper-thin pastry.

If you like your dessert with coffee or spirits, you're in luck. Get ready for a tasty time, as the desserts can be paired with Sacher-style coffees, Negronis, or even a spirited twist for those seeking something a little stronger. The Original Sacher-Torte starts at £16 per slice, the Apple Strudel at £18 per slice, and the Sacher Cube at £8 per cube. Two coffees with one Original Sacher-Torte and one Apple Strudel is £52, and two Negronis with one Original Sacher-Torte and one Apple Strudel is £98.
