The new venue is located in Soho.

Frites Atelier is making its way to London. The Dutch brand can already be found in Belgium and the Netherlands, and is now opening on Old Compton Street in Soho. If you’re a fan of the humble potato, here’s what you need to know.

If you want to be among the first through the doors at Frites Atelier, you’re in for a treat. On 20 December, the first 150 customers will receive a free portion of the brand’s signature double-cooked fries.

The original concept was founded by chef Sergio Herman, who said, “Perfection has earned me three MICHELIN stars, and even the simplest dish, like truly delicious frites, deserves the same dedication. Enjoy.”

Frites Atelier can already be found in Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent. In Amsterdam, it regularly draws queues of people keen to try the fries. Now, the new venue will be located in the heart of Soho, taking over the site formerly occupied by Balans No. 34.

Forget about what you know about chips and fries, as this makes what is often a side into a main – and will give you the comfort carbs. The menu specialises in fries topped with sauces, with options including andalouse, basil mayo, béarnaise, truffle and more. The drinks list includes beer, wine and cocktails, ranging from an Espresso Martini to a Spicy Margarita.

These are gourmet fries, so prices start from £8.95 for fries with sauce, while loaded fries start from £14.50. Check in with FACT for the best things to do in London.
