The restaurant partners with the art gallery on a new menu.
Art lovers, food lovers – we have some tasty news. Tate Modern’s upcoming Frida: The Making of an Icon exhibition already looks set to be one of the cultural highlights of the year. Now, there’s another reason to get excited, as chef Santiago Lastra will be creating a Frida Kahlo-inspired menu.
For the duration of the exhibition, Tate Modern has partnered with Kol, the FACT Dining Award-winning founder. Chef Santiago Lastra is behind the bespoke menu, inspired by Frida Kahlo’s life and work. The menu will be served at the Tate Modern Restaurant on level six.

Lastra, who was born in Mexico City, which is the same city as Kahlo, explains: “Being born in the same city as her makes this collaboration especially meaningful to me in London. The menu is my way of honouring her legacy, translating the emotions, colours and stories found in her work onto the plate.”
The full menu will be revealed in April, but guests can expect dishes that echo themes of identity, resilience and place – all hallmarks of both Kahlo’s art and Lastra’s cooking. This is a rare chance to experience the chef’s food at an accessible price point. The two-course lunch starts from £41, while a combined ticket including exhibition entry and lunch starts from £66.
Running from 25 June 2026 to 3 January 2027, Frida: The Making of an Icon explores how Kahlo became one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. The exhibition presents Frida through her different identities: wife, intellectual, artist and political activist.
