The dining room will be open to the public for a limited time.

It’s that time again when the House of Lords goes on holiday, giving the rest of us a rare chance to step into The Peers' Dining Room and experience dining like a lord. However, this Easter, there’s a twist. Instead of the usual lunch service, they’re offering a special afternoon tea experience.

While it is possible to visit the Palace of Westminster, it’s not often that the Peers’ Dining Room opens to the public. From 7 to 10 April 2026, visitors can dine at the venue. Plus, guests will be able to visit the Peers’ Guest Room Bar, which boasts views of the River Thames.

Peers' Dining Room

Peers’ Dining Room has welcomed a range of past Prime Ministers, from Sir Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher. If the walls could talk, it would share fascinating stories about the past. While you’re unlikely to bump into a politician, you can dig into an exciting afternoon tea offering.

Guests will be treated to freshly prepared sandwiches, cakes, and scones, complemented by a variety of premium loose-leaf teas. Dishes include Carpaccio of Isle of Wight heirloom beef tomato, and Herefordshire Wye Valley asparagus panna cotta with Old Winchester cheese mousse and citrus gel. The experience is priced at £70, and available at lunchtime only.

The Palace of Westminster is also open to the public with guided tours. The options range from self-guided audio tours to guided tours. Plus, Big Ben tours are available, allowing visitors to tour the Elizabeth Tower.
