The solo dining experience takes place in the Japanese Galleries.

A museum sounds like a serene spot for dinner. Now, you can enjoy a solo dining experience at one of the world’s greatest museums, thanks to The British Museum and Itsu. The event runs for two nights only, on 29 September and 9 October, from 6.30pm to 9pm.

If eating alone sounds like a daunting experience, there’s no need to worry. You’ll be surrounded by ancient artefacts, modern artwork and centuries-old pottery. The dinner takes place in the Japanese Galleries of the museum, showcasing pieces from prehistory to the present day.

The Japanese setting is ideal for the Japanese meal, which comes courtesy of Itsu. Diners will be seated at individual tables, complete with white tablecloths and a front-row seat to history. The initiative has been launched to celebrate Itsu’s new range of noodles and broths, developed in collaboration with MasterChef judge Monica Galetti.

Founded in 1997 by Pret A Manger Co-Founder, Julian Metcalfe, Itsu prides itself on its healthy, Asian-inspired menu. The menu includes sushi, salads, soups, and hot noodle bowls, and the brand can be found across London.

Monica Galetti is a celebrated chef, restaurateur, and television personality best known for her role as a judge on the BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals. Originally from Samoa and raised in New Zealand, she moved to London to work at the acclaimed Le Gavroche under Michel Roux Jr. In 2017, she opened her own restaurant, Mere, in Fitzrovia, London.

Guests must book their slots for the British Museum and Itsu meal in advance, and will have 20 minutes to enjoy their meal. Check in with FACT for the best things to do in London.
