The Parisian-style all-day diner is set to reopen in Covent Garden.

Buvette is making its way back to London, with the cult New York café confirmed to reopen this spring in Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden. The Paris café-inspired all-day diner is the work of chef Jody Williams, a James Beard Award winner whose laidback, warmly lit rooms have long attracted loyal fans in the West Village and beyond.

The new London outpost will take over the space previously occupied by St John Bakery, bringing Buvette’s signature blend of casual charm and properly satisfying food to one of the capital’s busiest dining neighbourhoods. Expect an 80-seat restaurant, plus terrace seating for those chasing an al fresco table when the weather plays along.

The concept is designed to work from morning to night. That means coffee and breakfast early doors, a steady midday rhythm, then dinner and cocktails as the day winds on. While full menu details are still under wraps, early hints point to familiar Buvette staples, including croque monsieur, steamed eggs, steak tartare, waffle sandwiches, and anchovies on bread with salted butter. Later in the day, the offering is expected to lean further into classic French comfort, with dishes such as coq au vin, cassoulet and escargot.

Drinks should be just as much of a draw. Alongside an extensive French-leaning wine list, look out for a confident cocktail programme that suits everything from a quick post-work aperitif to a long, low-lit late dinner.

Buvette first arrived in London in 2021 with an opening in Notting Hill, before closing in 2024. This more central, high-footfall address feels like a natural next chapter, with Covent Garden’s constant buzz likely to bring fresh energy and plenty of new regulars to the brand.

Originally launched in New York’s West Village in 2011, Buvette has since expanded to Paris, Tokyo and Seoul. Williams and her wife, chef Rita Sodi, are also behind a string of in-demand New York spots, including Via Carota, I Sodi, The Commerce Inn and Bar Pisellino.
