The Chancery Rosewood appears poised to become a landmark address. Located in the former United States Embassy, it will now be home to a five-star hotel and fine dining restaurants. Chef Masayoshi Takayama – also known as Masa – has announced plans to open his new sushi spot, Tobi Masa in London. Located in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair, The Chancery Rosewood and its restaurants are set to open in September 2025.
Chef Masa was born in Tochigi, Japan, to parents who owned a catering business. As a child, he helped out with the family business and began cutting fish. In the 1980s, he opened restaurants in Los Angeles, United States. And, his celebrity clientele included the iconic actor, Marlon Brando.
Chef Masa has made waves around the world. He has already made his mark at Harrods Dining Hall in Knightsbridge, and is behind the three-MICHELIN Starred Masa in Midtown Manhattan, New York.

Tobi Masa in London promises to deliver a refined omakase experience at The Chancery Rosewood. The new venue will feature an omakase counter, a main dining room, and a dedicated bar. While full menu details are still under wraps, dishes confirmed so far include Masa Toro Tartare, Peking Duck Tacos, and Surimi Masa Pasta.
Chef Masa shared: “I’m so proud to be partnering with a creative and innovative brand like Rosewood. We are very excited to embark on this new adventure together, and especially in such a historic landmark building in the middle of Mayfair.”
The Chancery Rosewood will be home to 144 suites, eight restaurants and bars, including the European debut of New York's Carbone and the return of Le Caprice.
