Have you tried the viral plantain burger yet?
Chef Joyce Kudia, familiar to many from Channel 4's Five Star Chef, has found a permanent home for her Congolese-inspired concept Biléyi at Boxhall City in London. The move follows a standout run at the venue's rotating chef counter, Kitchen No. 8, where her cooking drew long lines and frequent sell-outs.
The signature that sparked the hype is back. Kudia's viral Plantain Burger now holds a fixed place on the menu and remains as indulgent as ever. A juicy, well-seasoned beef patty is layered with avocado, caramelised onions and tomato, then sandwiched between two crisp fried plantains that deliver sweetness and crunch in equal measure. Around it, the menu broadens into Slow-smoked Goat, Flame-Grilled Chicken, and playful sides such as Plantain Croquettes, giving diners a concise yet characterful introduction to modern Congolese flavours.
Boxhall City itself suits the concept. A more intimate, food-first evolution of the Boxpark concept, it is situated within the historic Metropolitan Arcade, a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. The space gathers thirteen vendors under one roof, which makes it an easy stop for office crowds at lunch and a casual draw for evening grazers. Biléyi adds a point of difference to the line-up, offering a distinctive perspective that encourages repeat visits.
Kudia speaks about the opening with clear enthusiasm, "I'm so excited to be returning to Boxhall City. My time at Kitchen No.8 was a real game changer, giving me the platform to share the bold flavours and rich traditions of Congolese cuisine with a whole new audience."

"The response was incredible, and the energy, feedback and loyal customers I met have stayed with me ever since. Coming back now with a permanent spot means I can build on that moment, keep creating, and welcome back familiar faces while hopefully winning over plenty of new ones too."
On early taste, that seems likely. The menu is tight, the signatures travel well, and the setting gives Biléyi room to grow a loyal following in the heart of the city. If you missed the pop-up, this is your chance to see what the buzz was about.
