Serdar Demir is behind the new opening.
A new Turkish restaurant is heading to Mayfair. Scheduled to open in December, Chargal will offer a refined dining experience alongside a late-night lounge. If you’re after a new spot to eat, here’s what you need to know.
Situated on Berkeley Street, Chargal will span three storeys and take over the site previously occupied by Jeru. The concept has been created by Serdar Demir, who is also behind The Mantl in Knightsbridge.
Chargal will offer a range of dining options, including casual dining, fine dining, and drinks. The ground floor will feature a relaxed atmosphere, while the first floor will provide a more refined experience. Plus, a lounge will open in the evening, offering drinks and dancing.
Guests can look forward to an Insta-worthy setting with live-fire cooking over oak-charcoal flames. Dishes will range from Grilled Halloumi Doughnuts to Wagyu Iskender, with the heat adding a theatrical touch. Other highlights will include Kuru Cacik, a modern take on the traditional Turkish yoghurt and cucumber dish.
If you can’t wait, head to The Mantl. Located near Harrods and the Turkish Embassy, it serves authentic Turkish cuisine. Opened in 2019, it seats 68 guests indoors and 12 outdoors. Serdar prides himself on redefining Turkish cuisine and has played a key role in shaping London’s dining scene. Drawing inspiration from his heritage, he blends traditional flavours with contemporary presentation.
