Tucked behind Tanner Krolle on Mount Street, Automat pairs comfort classics with cocktails.
Automat has officially landed in Mayfair, bringing a refined American dining concept to London’s ever-evolving restaurant scene. Now open at 127 Mount Street, the new venue takes inspiration from the original Automat, once found on Dover Street in New York, where it built a reputation as a reliable, glamorous night out with old-school appeal.
This London iteration is led by One Luxury Group and reintroduced under new ownership, keeping the sense of classic Americana while sharpening the edges with a more contemporary, elevated approach. The result is a restaurant that nods to early and mid-century American dining culture, but feels right at home in Mayfair, where details matter and dinner is rarely just dinner.

Finding Automat is half the fun. Guests enter through the luxury leather store Tanner Krolle, setting the tone with a discreet, speakeasy-style arrival that feels intentionally off-the-radar. Inside, the menu leans into nostalgia while using modern techniques and premium sourcing to rework familiar favourites. Expect signatures like the Automat Burger served with homemade fries, a Lobster Roll lifted with brown butter and lemon, and the Automat Chicken Pie paired with sweet potato mash. There is also Steak Tartare with Dijon mustard for those who like their classics with a sharper finish. Desserts follow the same comfort-first philosophy, taking cues from American home-baking and feel-good staples.
The drinks list matches the mood. Cocktails reference timeless American icons with a twist, including the Dirty Martini and Old Fashioned, alongside house signatures like Velvet Hour with vodka, cranberry juice, creme de peche, and lemon, plus a Green Mezcalita with cucumber and jalapeño cordial. The wine selection is broad and international, spanning Burgundy and Tuscany, with a curated line-up of American bottles.

Interiors by London-based Tomèf Studio lean into a ‘fine diner’ ambience, combining mood lighting, polished tableware, and design notes that blend old-world charm with modern finesse. With 58 covers on the ground floor, the room stays intentionally intimate. Later this year, Automat will also debut a lower-ground Sporting Club, designed as a hidden hangout with vintage memorabilia, atmospheric lighting, and a central viewing screen for game nights and private gatherings. There are also plans for an invite-only, no-fee Supper Club, offering guaranteed reservations within 24 hours, exclusive events, and a WhatsApp concierge for insider updates.
Automat is open Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm to 11pm, with lunch launching soon.
