The artist’s independent footwear label refreshes its signature slip-on with playful new palettes.

Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has long blurred the boundaries between fine art, fashion and pop culture. Now, his independent footwear label, Ohana Hatake, is taking that crossover a step further with the launch of the Ohana Full-Bloom “Multicolor” Collection, released on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

Timed for the Spring and Summer season, the new drop reworks the brand’s signature silhouette in a bold multicolour format for the first time. Drawing inspiration from Murakami’s famous flower plush pillows and the bright, joyful visual language that has defined much of his work, the collection introduces a more expressive take on the Full-Bloom design.

The release arrives in three distinct colourways: Yellow/White/Yellow, Pink/White/Yellow and Black/White/Black. Each version channels the playful energy associated with Murakami’s aesthetic, while still retaining the clean, easy-to-wear shape that has become central to the Ohana Hatake identity. The result is footwear that feels both collectible and practical.

Beyond the updated palette, the new collection also emphasises comfort and functionality. The Full-Bloom silhouette is crafted entirely from lightweight EVA foam, offering a durable yet flexible construction suited to daily wear. An upgraded, softer footbed promises improved cushioning underfoot, while a newly engineered outsole is designed for traction, giving the slip-on a more dependable grip.

Practical details also play a key role. The shoes are waterproof, easy to clean and built for versatility, making them a timely addition for warmer weather and travel-friendly wardrobes. While the visual identity is unmistakably Murakami, the performance-focused design ensures the collection does more than simply look good.

For Ohana Hatake, the “Multicolor” launch marks an important next step. It signals an evolution of the brand’s core design language and hints at a broader expansion of colour-led releases in the seasons ahead. For longtime admirers of Murakami’s work, it offers a fresh way to wear one of his most recognisable motifs. For everyone else, it is a vivid reminder that functional footwear can still carry an unmistakable artistic point of view.
