The team will open the concept at the former site of Carmel.
A new restaurant centred around Turkish cuisine is opening in Fitzrovia, London. It will be located on the site previously occupied by Carmel. The team behind the Italian restaurant brand, Faros, is taking over the location to launch an exciting new concept.
The upcoming Turkish restaurant will open at 7 to 8 Market Place, near Oxford Circus. The site, just 150 metres from the station, was let to Faros Group in a deal brokered by One Voice Hospitality. While the name and full concept are yet to be revealed, the project promises a deep dedication to Turkish cuisine and culture. With 100 internal covers and a prime West End location, it’s a clear jackpot.
Burak Demirelli, co-founder of Faros Group, said: “This one is very close to my heart. It will celebrate the richness of Turkish cuisine, with a special focus on meze culture and open-fire cooking – all delivered with elegance and authenticity in central London. Thank you to everyone who’s supported us on this journey so far. This is just the beginning of something very exciting.”
Ted Schama, co-founder of One Voice Hospitality, added: “Market Place continues to evolve as one of the West End’s most dynamic all-day dining destinations. In a competitive leasing process, we recommended the founders of Faros, who demonstrated passion, dedication, and a very strong track record in the Fitzrovia community.”
The site has proved tricky to establish as a lasting destination. Carmel, led by chef Josh Katz, opened in April 2024 but closed less than a year later. Before that, it housed MJMK’s Cuban restaurant La Rampa. Prior to that, the US brand Sweet Chick. If you can't wait, check out its sister restaurant Faros in Holborn and Oxford Circus.
