Ed O'Brien's Barbican show ties in with the release of his new album.
Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien has announced that he will play a solo show in London. Taking place on 16 October at the Barbican, An Evening With… Blue Morpho coincide with the release of his new album, Blue Morpho.
Ed’s October show is titled An Evening With… Blue Morpho. On the night, he will be joined by musicians who worked on the album, including David Okumu. The evening will combine guitars, trip-hop, and hypnotic psych-folk.

Ed was born in Oxford, England, and his family hails from Ballyporeen, Ireland. He was part of the formation of Radiohead, which was established in Abingdon. The band’s members include Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood and Philip Selway. Ed provided guitars and backing vocals for the group and was crucial to its expansive sound. Last year, the band returned to the stage for the first time since 2018 and played at The O2 Arena in London.
Beyond Radiohead, Ed has launched his own solo project. In 2020, he released his first album, Earth. Blue Morpho marks his second studio album, and the title track is already available to listen to. He is also known for his environmental activism, and his debut album was inspired by his time living in Brazil and attending Carnival. He has also revealed plans for a special screening of a short film to accompany the album. Shot in Wales, it will be shown in London, Oxford and Paris.
