London, it’s time to have a laugh, as Ricky Gervais and Friends: New Material Nights has been announced. Taking place on 6, 7, 12 and 13 January, the shows will be held at Leicester Square Theatre, London, and here’s how to get hold of tickets.
Ricky Gervais and Friends: New Material Nights gives audiences the chance to watch his work in progress. It’s a rare opportunity to see one of the biggest comedians in the country in a smaller setting, practising his new material before anyone else.
Ricky hails from Berkshire, United Kingdom. He originally had aspirations to work in the music industry before later moving into comedy. During his career, he has worked as an actor, comedian, filmmaker, television producer and writer. He co-created, co-wrote and starred in the British television series The Office, a mockumentary that poked fun at the daily lives of employees in Slough at a fictional company.
Over the course of his career, Ricky has worked closely with Stephen Merchant. The pair went on to create shows including Derek, Extras and Life’s Too Short. Ricky has won seven BAFTA Awards, five British Comedy Awards, two Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.
Ricky’s film credits include David Brent: Life on the Road, Ghost Town, Muppets Most Wanted and Night at the Museum. He has also hosted the Golden Globe Awards five times.
Ricky’s latest comedy special, Mortality, is released on Netflix on 30 December. The stand-up show explores themes of death, with Ricky stating: “We’re all going to die — we may as well have a laugh about it.”
