The Commission will introduce its exclusive Sadu weaving collection, titled ‘Woven Whispers’.

Saudi Arabia’s Heritage Commission is set to showcase its rich cultural legacy on the global stage with the debut of Woven Whispers, an exclusive Sadu weaving collection, at London Craft Week 2025, taking place from 14 to 18 May.

As part of a wider mission to preserve Saudi heritage and promote sustainable craftsmanship, the Commission will highlight the intricate art of Sadu weaving, a centuries-old Bedouin practice passed down through generations of Saudi women. Traditionally crafted using simple fibres, Sadu textiles are transformed into detailed tapestries that echo ancestral stories, tribal symbolism, and shared memories.

The immersive exhibition blends age-old techniques with modern aesthetics, offering visitors a fresh perspective on a living tradition. Woven Whispers not only pays tribute to the artistry but also celebrates the women behind the craft, custodians of a narrative woven into every thread.

Historically, Sadu weaving was a communal practice where women gathered to spin yarn, tell stories, and sing together, creating bonds of resilience and connection. Today, Saudi artisans continue this legacy, blending heritage with innovation to create pieces that speak to both past and present.

By bringing Woven Whispers to London, the Heritage Commission aims to amplify the voices of Saudi artisans, engage with global creative networks, and foster international appreciation for the Kingdom’s craftsmanship. The showcase is part of Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to cultural dialogue and creative exchange on the world stage.

The Woven Whispers exhibition at London Craft Week 2025 takes place at Gallery 1, Cromwell Place and runs from 14 to 18 May.
