The romantic comedy 50 First Dates is going from the screen to the stage. Running from 14 September to 16 November 2025, 50 First Dates The Musical will be showing at The Other Palace Theatre in London's West End.
50 First Dates The Musical is based on the film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The cast also included Rob Schneider, Sean Astin and Blake Clark. Released in 2004, it tells the story of Henry and Lucy. Henry is a marine veterinarian, and Lucy is an art teacher. After the pair go on a date, he finds out that she was in a tragic accident and suffers from amnesia. So, he decides to win her over again each day.
The film was a commercial success, and was remade with different versions in different countries. Now, it is coming to the stage with song and dance numbers. Set in Oahu, Hawaii, the stage will bring to life the sun, sand and sea. The cast includes Georgina Castle, who has starred in Elf The Musical and Mean Girls, and Josh St. Clair, who has starred in Ghost The Musical.
The show was written by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, and has been directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw. Casey explained: "50 First Dates is one of the most beloved romantic comedies of all time, and has also been one of my favourites ever since I first saw it. I'm so excited to direct and choreograph the world premiere of this new, funny and romantic show. I can't wait for London audiences to fall in love – again and again and again when we open this September."
