The one-night-only charity screening takes over Vue Leicester Square on 22 February 2026.

A critically acclaimed Palestinian coming-of-age drama is heading to the big screen in central London for one afternoon only. On Saturday 22 February 2026, the film ‘Alam’ will be shown at Vue Leicester Square, followed by an in-person Q&A with writer-director Firas Khoury.

The screening is being held in support of The Galilee Foundation, with ticket sales helping to fund the charity’s educational and cultural initiatives for Palestinian youth. The London-based organisation works directly with grassroots partners, with a mission to expand access to education, culture, and capacity development.

Set in a Palestinian town, ‘Alam’ follows teenager Tamer and his friends as they drift through the rhythms of school life until the arrival of a new student, Maysaa’, nudges him into trying to impress her. That impulse soon turns into something bigger: Tamer agrees to join a clandestine flag operation on the eve of Israel’s Independence Day, described as a day of mourning for Palestinians, and what begins as a teen dare becomes a charged test of identity, loyalty, and quiet defiance.

Khoury writes and directs, with a cast led by Mahmood Bakri, Sereen Khass, Saleh Bakri, Mohammad Karaki, Ahmad Zaghmouri, and Muhammad Abed El Rahman. Bakri’s performance drew major attention on the festival circuit, including a Best Actor win at the Cairo International Film Festival, where the film also took top honours and the audience award.

If you want extra context before the credits roll, Khoury’s earlier work includes the shorts Seven Days in Deir Bulus (2007) and Yellow Mums (2010), plus Maradona’s Legs (2019), which received the Robert Bosch Stiftung Film Prize, as well as Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg's support. It was also screened at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and began airing on Netflix in October 2021.

Doors open at 2pm, with the film starting at 2.30pm. The story runs until 4pm, when the post-screening conversation with Khoury begins.
