North African Arts brings its emotionally charged new production to the capital this June.
London’s Arab arts scene is set for a compelling addition this summer, as When My Soul Left makes its London debut for one night only. Staged at the Shaw Theatre on 25 June 2026, the production blends comedy, drama and psychological tension into a story designed to entertain as much as it provokes thought.
Presented by North African Arts, When My Soul Left arrives in the capital following a successful debut, marking another milestone for the collective as it continues to champion Arab and North African storytelling on stage. Scheduled to run from 8pm to 10pm, the performance will offer audiences a layered theatrical experience where emotion, humour and unexpected turns sit side by side.
Written by Mostafa Hamdy and directed by Mohamed Safwat, the play centres on a deceptively simple idea: the life we often long to leave behind may hold more value than we realise. From that premise, the production unfolds through a series of twists and character-driven moments that challenge perception and blur the line between appearance and reality. The result is a narrative that invites audiences to laugh, reflect and reconsider what they think they know.
The production also reflects the wider mission of North African Arts, a collective founded in 2012 that brings together artists from across the Arab world with a shared passion for music and theatre. Over the years, the organisation has staged a range of cultural events and performances, helping to spotlight regional heritage through live entertainment. Its continued growth has made it an increasingly visible presence within the diasporic arts landscape, both in the region and beyond.
For London audiences, When My Soul Left offers the chance to experience a work shaped by North African and Arab talent in a city that continues to embrace more diverse theatrical voices. With only one performance scheduled, it is likely to attract theatre-goers looking for something distinctive, emotionally resonant and culturally rooted.
