Michael Sheen will perform at the Noël Coward Theatre in London.
Michael Sheen is celebrated for his ability to bring real-life figures vividly to the stage and screen. He has portrayed Tony Blair and David Frost, and now he will take on the role of the composer Antonio Salieri. Amadeus will run from 9 to 27 March 2027 at the New Theatre in Cardiff, and it will then transfer to the Noël Coward Theatre in London from 17 April to 7 August 2027.
Michael was born in Newport, Wales. The celebrated Welsh actor is renowned for his transformative performances across stage and screen. He trained at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and gained acclaim in theatre, most notably in Amadeus and Frost/Nixon. He is widely recognised for portraying real-life figures and has also starred in major film franchises and television hits, including the 30 Rock, Twilight and the Underworld series.

More recently, Michael has stepped away from Hollywood to focus on his passion for theatre, launching the Welsh National Theatre. Its debut production, Our Town, was met with great acclaim, and upcoming productions include Owain & Henry. Amadeus also forms part of the company’s programme.
Amadeus was written by Peter Shaffer and will be directed by Jeremy Herrin. In 1998, Michael lit up the stage at the Old Vic in the title role. The play explores the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, and was such a success that it ran for 18 months. Now, he will star alongside Callum Scott Howells. This also marks Michael’s first West End appearance in almost 20 years – his last being Frost/Nixon.
